  • What game system does Dark Dice use?

    We use the 5th Edition rules for the Dungeons & Dragons roleplaying game. We have added our own rules for Sanity, Skills Challenges, Critical Hits, and more.

  • Does Dark Dice use AI?

    Dark Dice does not use AI.
    A team of (human) artists, composers, musicians, sound designers, and voice actors lovingly bring this show to life.

  • How can I listen to Dark Dice?

    The Dark Dice podcast is available on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, Youtube, and all major RSS syndicator podcasting apps.

  • Do I need to listen to the seasons in order?

    Our stories can be enjoyed by starting at the first episode of any season.

    However, Season 2: The Long Road is enhanced by listening to Season 1 first, as characters and story lines continue from one to the next.

  • Are the world and stories of Dark Dice original?

    The Dark Dice world is a fully original IP created by Travis Vengroff & K.A. Statz.

    Our stories are fully original and truly improvised. Roleplaying systems are used to give the actions of the actors a framework through which to experience and tell a story.

  • Who are the Game Masters of Dark Dice?

    In Seasons 1 & 2, the Game Master is Travis Vengroff. From Season 3 onwards, the co-Game Masters are Travis Vengroff and K. A. Statz. For more information on their work, please look at the available modules for purchase, and their work as the founders of Fool & Scholar Productions.

  • How does a digital purchase work?

    When you make a digital purchase, such as a digital music album or a PDF, you will receive an email with a link. The link is only valid for 24 hours, so please download your purchase within the time window. Also, use a legitimate email address or you will not receive your purchase. Please check your Junk folder if you did not receive your link.

  • Is Dark Dice actually improvised?

    Yes. Each story is improvised, and characters do not have “plot armor.” As the Game Masters, we write the general outline for a story and then we place the characters within the world. The dice take it from there.

    The Table Talk and rules discussions are largely edited out of our episodes. The voices of non-player characters (originally voiced by Vengroff or Statz) are replaced with voice actors for further immersion. Sound effects and more are added later!

  • Is Dark Dice scary?

    Yes! Dark Dice is a horror show. Each episode has content warnings. Our shows deal with a variety of frightening and upsetting themes including death, lapses in sanity, body horror, dismemberment, cannibalism, human sacrifice, and more.
